This painting holds a special place in my heart, it's on Vinalhaven, ME.  I loved visiting there in summers as a child. 

Lane's Island Preserve in a wonderful spot to while away the hours just looking or walking on various paths with beautiful views.

Shore Path

Every summer I take a couple trips over to the island of Vinalhaven, Me., in the Penboscot Bay.   
I am lucky to have  family and friends there.  I took a photo and this is my translation. It's interesting how a painting from photo can translate the feeling of a place. I hope you like it as much as I do!

As a child, I spent many hours playing along this path when we visited my great-aunt and uncle.

Water Fall

I love waterfalls. To get the photo I painted this from, I had to hold onto a tree and hang over the rock edge and snap away. 

Ender's State Forest in Granby, Ct., has a series of fascinating waterfalls and this is my interpretation of one of those falls. Stay tuned for more paintings of the falls.

I painted this in about a weeks time. It took me a while to get the angles. This was one of my first ventures in painting with a palette knife.

Salt Marsh

. This is one of the many salt marshes on Cape Cod.  There is something so intriguing to me about a salt marsh.  This is one of my favorite pieces.

My Favorite Tree , A Survivor (or Will to Live)

I have been amazed and fascinated by this tree. It has survived many years growing this way after being knocked down during a storm. I was inspired to paint this picture after a major snow storm that we had at our New England town. Even though there was so much damage done around the area, it was a beautiful scene that I just had to capture. This tree is such a wonderful example of the will to survive.
