Lane's Island Lupines

This painting holds a special place in my heart, it's on Vinalhaven, ME. I loved visiting there in summers as a child.

Lane's Island Preserve in a wonderful spot to while away the hours just looking or walking on various paths with beautiful views.

About Jacqueline Jakubowski

I grew up on the shores of Lake Michigan in Northern Indiana and spent my summers in Maine, I love being outdoors. My family also spent much time camping and hiking in state parks around Indiana. I love being near water and am really moved to paint scenes of nature, especially with water and/or trees. I enjoy painting en plein air in nice weather and indoors in cold or inclement weather. I paint in special places or from photos I have taken of places that move my spirit.

I started painting in 1970 when my husband surprised me with a paint box, oil paints and easel for Christmas. In 1999 I started painting regularly with a group of painters I met at Tunxis Community College. We have since formed the Brush and Palette Artists. These artists continually inspire and encourage me.

I try to approach each canvas with an open mind and no set expectations except to have fun and see what happens. I am excited by the process of painting and what seems to magically come out of the brush.

Although I am mainly self-taught, I have taken many wonderful workshops and classes over the years. I have exhibited with the Avon Art Association, West Hartford Art League, the Brush and Palette Artists and at area libraries. Also the McLean Home, Elizabeth Park Pond House, Art Well, Real Art Ways, City County Canvas and the Simsbury Open Studio Tour. Some of my paintings are part of collections of the Simsbury Inn, and the Carmon Funeral Home in Avon.

I love to encourage others to paint or to explore and develop their own talents and style.
